I just finished ‘Haunting Adeline‘ by H.D. Carlton today! This is FREE ON KU and is book 1 of a duet. I first heard of this book when a member of this group sent me a TikTok video about it where someone was RAVING about it’s “perfection.” I told Mod Maria Tracy at the time about it and before I knew it, I was receiving FB msg after msg about how much she was obsessed with this book.
So! I took a break from what I was reading and gave it a go. I started and finished it over the weekend!
This is a DARK STALKER ROMANCE. It is not for the faint of heart. If you love a typical, reasonable, and normal alpha male and shy away from twisted, dangerous, and psychotic … this is not for you! The book also ends on a cliffhanger and it does have trigger warnings from the author. It was actually taken off of Amazon for a while due to it’s darkness. There are what may be perceived as nonconsensual scene(s) in it. And it’s not a typical Paranormal Romance. No vampires, werewolves, etc. But it does have Paranormal elements (ghosts) and Romance elements (dark stalker obsession.)
So I do have to say that this book…. IS FANTASTIC. It did live up to it’s hype! 🙌
The story is about a FMC that is a best selling author who recently inherited a spooky cliffside manor in Washington State (USA.) After she moves in, she realizes a murder took place there and at the same time as trying to solve the murder, she gets a stalker who leaves her red roses inside her locked house.
This book is HOT 🔥🔥🔥. But it’s twisted and not the way a “normal” person should react to a stalker by any means. If you have read dark romance before, this may not be too bad. If you haven’t, it’s going to shock you. But at the end of the day, it is FICTION and meant to be read as fiction.
I’m adding this to my favorite picks! I don’t add non-complete series in my Best of the Best picks, so it’s too soon to add it to my BoTB. But it has the potential to end up there dependent on the rest of the books!
Again, not for the faint of heart. Expect darkness. Expect HOT steam 🔥. Expect some messed up stuff. But most of all… expect to be OBSESSED!
