I just finished ‘Disobedient Pawn,’ Book 1 of The Kings of Wayward Academy series by Brooklyn Cross… and I LOVED IT! (FYI, I’m not affiliated with the author and there are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻)
Ok! So I stumbled upon this GREAT 🤩 book on Amazon randomly while searching 👀 for books similar to the The Blackened Blade by Isla Davon (another FANTASTIC read!) … and the GORGEOUS 😍 cover absolutely drew me in! I opened the sample for a quick 🏃🏻♀️ read, and it didn’t take me long at all to download it to my Kindle 🙌🏻! And BOY oh BOY am I so GLAD I did! 🙌🏻👏🏻🙌🏻
So… this book is described on Amazon as a New Adult Sports Romance… but HONESTLY ✌🏻, other than the fact ☝️ it’s a SUPER slow-burn, it definitely read more Adult 🔥 Romance to me! I would also consider this more of a Mafia Academy (RH?) Romance with some bullying, with a smidgen 🤏🏻 of sports 🏊♂️ 🥍 to be fair! And if you don’t like bullying… no worries at all! This is one of the FEW books where the FMC gives it back just as GOOD as she gets it 👊🏻… like IMMEDIATELY 🙌🏻! And it is GLORIOUS 🤌🏻💋! As a matter of fact, I think that’s one of the reasons this may have pulled up on my ‘Zon search… I was literally looking for strong 💪🏻 FMCs who FIGHT 🤺 back against bullies and DANG 😳😲! This FMC’s tongue & wit are SHARP! 👏🏻👏🏻
So what is this book about 🤔?! OK ✅! So it starts off with a FMC at her mother’s funeral 🥺… and as SOON as she says her FINAL goodbyes 😢, her COLD father WHISKS her away at the demand of some MEAN 😡 man to an unknown destination! Turns out, her father is essentially DISCARDING 🗑️ her to a Private Academy 🏫 that not just anyone can attend 😲. Our girl has to be quick on her toes (no worries there, she is pretty BADA$S!) to navigate the Queen Bee 🐝 MEAN GIRL and the KINGS 🥵 of the Academy… who are taking BETS 🎰 on who can bed her FIRST 😱 (the Kings that is, not the Queen Bee 😅!)
Actually, I’m honestly not sure if this is a RH or not! It is a SUPER slow burn… but there is dialogue and scenes that made me think this will eventually have some good steam 🔥 with more than one fella 🥵🥵! The anticipation in this book is so DANG GOOD and the two main guys are SO different… but each so fantastic! One says the sweetest 🧁 things (in an Irish ☘️ accent!) and the other, will melt 🥵 your panties off 😆! AND!!! There was a scene in this book where I was like… ohhhhh 👀👀👀… this totally has Zodiac Academy meets Ruthless Boys vibes! Combine that with some of the PSYCHOPATH 🔪characteristics of a GREAT DARK MAFIA 🔫 🩸Romance… and I am TOTALLY HERE for that combo 🙌🏻
So if you LOVE ❤️ a FMC that is FEARLESS 💪🏻, TELLS 🗣️ it like it IS, and OUTWITS 🧠 her opponents with her SHARP tongue, the DRAMA 🎭 of MMCs 🥵🥵🥵 competing against each other for a FMC (assuming the FMC won’t have to choose in the end 🙌🏻!,) some comebacks that will make you say “Damn Gina! 😱,” a main ALPHAHOLE that loves a good Christian Grey SPANK 🔥🔥, and quite frankly, a page-turning, really enjoyable read… give this a shot! It’s FREE on KU and you never know… it may be just the book for you too!
