I finished reading ‘The Never King,’ Book 1 by Nikki St. Crowe and Holy Peter Pan! WATCH OUT 👀! Cause this STAR ✨of a book will keep you reading ‘straight on til morning ✨!’ (FYI, I’m not affiliated with the author, not in the book biz, reading is just a HOBBY, and I’m just a regular reader that is super passionate 💗 about spreading the word on GREAT books!) There are NO spoilers 🙌🏻!
So this is a Peter Pan Fairy Tale 🧚♀️ RETELLING that has Fantasy and Romance 💘! Woot 🙌🏻 Woot 🙌🏻!!! And if you haven’t ALREADY noticed, it’s KILL!NG it on Amazon Top 100 Bestsellers on THREE ️⃣ separate lists (at the time I wrote this!) … #️⃣ Fantasy 🧚♂️ Romance, #1️⃣ Gothic🩸Romance, and #2️⃣ Paranormal 💀 Romance! It has over 1700 ratings at nearly 5 STARS ⭐️ ! Dannnng… do I even NEED to continue 😅?! Ok FINE. TWIST my ARM 💪🏻! Here goes 😆!
Ok, so this book starts off FREAKING FANTASTIC 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. LITERALLY (no PUNt 🏈 intended 😆.) I kid you not! 👉🏻 There is one line at the VERY start that OMG 😆 … I must have msg’d at least THREE different people as SOON as I read it because it was such a FUNNY 😂 and CLEVER 🧠 turn ⤵️ of words! Really, this book just takes off from the GET GO with quite a humorous TOUCHDOWN 💋🏈💋🏈!
Alright 😆 alright 😆, so the story begins on the BIRTHDAY 🎂 of our FMC 👗, who is ANXIOUSLY awaiting being CAPTURED ⛓ by PETER PAN 🧚! Yes! You heard that right 😆!! Our girl KNOWS he is supposed to STEAL 🥷 her AWAY (or at least, that’s what she’s been told 😳!) Every female in her family line for generations has DISAPPERED around her 18th birthday 😵! And when they return… which they ALWAYS DO 😮… they come back different… CHANGED. But WILL our girl be kidnapped? Is Peter Pan REALLY real 😲? Or have the women in her line just gone MAD 😵💫? What will happen when our girl finds out 😱?!
So yeah… this story was a super COOL 😎 TWIST 🌪 on Peter Pan! First off, the FMC is FREAKING AMAZEBALLS 🙌🏻! She is THE definition of EMPOWERMENT 💪🏻! THIS CHICK 👏🏻👏🏻! She just TAKES 💋 what she wants 🍆 and it is SO refreshing 🌬 there is NO shame 🚫. She just completely OWNS IT 💋 and I was like…YES, lady YES 👏🏻! NO SHAME I tell you 🥳! And the guys were a bit ‘deer in the headlights’ 😳 like… ummm… is this Darling FOR REAL 😲? Cuz this girl KNOWS 💡what she’s GOT 💋💋💋 and she DEFINITELY knows how to use it 🙌🏻! And I think our boys are in CLOUDBERRY ☁️➕🍓➕🍊 HEAVEN 😇!
And SPEAKING of our BOYS…. HOLY TINK 🥵🥵🥵! YES! This is a RH 🙌🏻! You don’t have to WORRY 😬 about the AGONY 😩 of a love triangle 🔺… cuz these boys definitely CAN share 💞💞💞! And our girl is WELL HAPPY 😁😁😁 to be LOST right alongside with them (if you know what I mean 😉😉🍆🔥🌶🥵!) These boys though… are definitely NOT boys 👏🏻! They are GROWN A$S DANGEROUS MEN 🥷 🥵 that are LOYAL to the PAN 👑! And speaking of PAN… he AIN’T no GOOD 👍🏻 boy neither! Nope 😁! This dude RULES with a tight, BLOOD 🩸 soaked, FIST 👊🏻! What this guy says… GOES… and NO ONE better PROVOKE 😠 him or they may find themselves royally SCREW&D 👊🏻 ❤️🩸☠️🍆🌶🔥🥵!!!
Ok.. Ok.. so the characters are pretty GRITTY 🔥 and GREAT 🥵! But what about the story?! It’s actually a pretty NEAT 👍🏻 take on Peter Pan, Tink, the Lost Boys, and of course… our girl, Wendy Darling 👗! The writing is first person POV and it’s clean, straight 👆🏻 forward & FABULOUS 😍 for page-turning 👏🏻! This is the kind of book that you can INHALE 😮💨 on a lazy Sunday afternoon ☀️ & be WHISKED away to the LAND 🌳 of DARK Fairy Tales 🧚♀️ & STEAM 🔥! Speaking of STEAM 🥵, this story definitely has it 🙌🏻! It’s NOT a slow-burn, but it also doesn’t take over the story either! The TEMP 🔥 is just the right amount of HEAT 🌶 & I’m here for it 🙋🏻♀️! Ohhhhhh & the ending 👏🏻! Ok, so yeah, there is a bit of a MYSTERY 🔎 going on in this Peter Pan TWIST and the GREAT 🤩 news… is you DO get the answers 🥳🥳🥳! (Although they might be via a wee, tiny cliffhanger 😉) GOOD NEWS though! … Book 2 is only a hop, flight 🦋 and an island 🏝 away (NEXT month 🥳!)
So if you love a darker Fairy Tale RE-TELLING of Peter Pan 🧚♀️, a FMC that is SHAMELESS 💋 & LEGIT 👆🏻takes what she wants!, MMCs that include BOYS that we do actually want to be LOST with 🥵🥵, and a BOY, at the CENTER 🍆 of it all that we may actually WANT to PROVOKE 🔥🔥… give this a shot!
