I just finished βShattered Vowβ & βMonstrous Powerβ from Author Eva Chase Shadowblood Souls series and both books were pretty GREAT π€©! (FYI, Iβm not affiliated with the author and there are NO spoilers! ππ»)
OK β ! So the story kicks off with a FMC and 5 HOT π₯΅ dudes being held in CAPTIVITY β since childhood π§π¦π¦π¦π¦π¦ because of their special abilities π₯! All they have wanted is their FREEDOM π΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ Ώ & when it finally looks like it MAY happenβ¦ NOTHING works out the way they expect π±! INCLUDING β¦ our girl going from being TREASURED π to the ENEMY π₯· in our guys eyes ππ²! But even then, they canβt seem to let her goβ¦ π₯π₯π₯
I LITERALLY want to say SO MUCH more about the plot, but anything more than that would be a SPOILER π«! What I CAN say is this Why Choose is a Paranormal Romance/Urban Fantasy combo with STRONG πͺπ» enemies-to-lovers π₯·βπ vibes AND a pretty COOL π , unique plotline! I really LOVED β€οΈ the world π that is being built by this pretty talented author βοΈ! It’s DEFINITELY X-MEN π meets the paranormal πΊ β¦ with both GREAT action π€Ί & some STEAM π₯! Honestly, itβs a FAB π merge of genres and tropes trending on Amazonβs Bestsellers π today under Paranormal Romance β¦ so itβs NO surprise to me that Book 1 is currently ranked # 6οΈβ£ with over 1300 ratings!!! ππ»ππ»ππ»
So the first book kept me SO invested π that as soon as it ended, I checked out Book
2 (errr it was 2am I think π
!) AND YOU BETCHA, if Book 3 was out, I would have DEFINITELY started it STAT π¨ as well! Because HOLY SMOKES π²! I was HOPING ππ» for a TWIST πͺ at the end of Book 2.. and I GOT IT! I had a feeling a certain someone would pop up β¦ but WOW π€―β¦ not like that π²π²π²!!! And what about the STEAM π, you say?! Yup ππ»! It gets a little HOT π₯΅ ! But I especially LOVED β€οΈ that the enemies-to-lovers π₯·βπ vibes and the non-romantic plotline kept it from becoming all consuming! It was just the RIGHT π€π» amount of steam π₯ I thought! Spicy πΆ and at JUST the right moments! ππ»ππ»π²
Oh! And in Book 2, I DEFINITELY π― got the impression that this might be a spin-off series in the same world π as a previous series! With a little investigation π, I was right ππ»! It appears this series is the spin-off of βThe Heart of a Monsterβ series by Eva Chase! But hereβs the GOOD π news π! You TOTALLY donβt have to read that first (I know this because I didnβt π!) I actually really LOVED π€ that I didnβt read it first because as I was reading THIS series, I got just enough nuggets of info to be interested in the other series! And NOW Iβm SUPER EXCITED π€© to start βChosen by Villiansβ and read about a certain HOT π₯΅ demon who runs a hotel π¨ in Miami π΄βοΈ! Actuallyβ¦ gonna get to that right now ππ»ββοΈ!
So if you like a STRONG πͺπ», pragmatic FMC who just wants to save her guys, HOT π₯΅ smokinβ fellas that kick 𦡠the enemies-to-lovers π₯·βπ trope into gear βοΈ, some pretty COOL π action & fight π€Ί scenes, a unique π plotline with cool worldbuilding that I havenβt really ready before, and some good STEAM πΆβ¦ give this series a shot! Itβs FREE on KU and you never know, it may just capture β you!
