I just finished reading ‘Savage Lands,’ by Stacey Marie Brown and it was OFF THE CHARTS A MASTERPIECE 🙌🏻🤩👏🏻🤩🙌🏻! (FYI, I’m not affiliated with the author, not in the book biz, reading is just a HOBBY, and I’m just a regular reader that is super passionate about spreading the word on GREAT books!) There are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻
YOU GUYS!!!! I am NUTS about this book 🙌🏻! NUTS I TELL YOU 🥳🤩🥳! I’ve been sitting here smacking my head 😅 trying to figure out what book I can relate this to so I can give an accurate representation of the type of book this is! AND I CANNOT ✋🏻. It’s in a LEAGUE of it’s OWN 👏🏻. SO INCREDIBLE 🤩. SO AMAZING 🙌🏻. SO BRILLIANTLY 💡 WRITTEN. JUST WOW 😮. WOW 😲 WOW 😲 WOW 😲. Okay okay 😆, I’ll reign it in a bit so I can actually give some GOOD information to help you know if this is for you (and it totally is 😉😆!)
It’s starts off in a sort of a dystopian world where 19 years earlier, the FAE 🧚♀️ broke the barrier to the human world 🌎 and the world as we know it (yes ‘WE,’ cuz I feel like it’s my world now!… sorta like when hubby says ‘we had a great win today’ when he’s talking about the Steelers 🏈 , who despite what he thinks… he WASN’T actually there and he DOESN’T actually coach them 😂😂😂… But I digress… 🤪)… ok so it’s this harsh world where humans and Fae sort of have their separate areas they rule 👑 . They totally HATE 😡 one another and tensions are super HIGH 😬. Enter our FMC… who is an orphan raised by the leader 🤴 of one of the human areas in Budapest, which happens to be right next to the Fae border AND THE SAVAGE LANDS! The Savage Lands is like the wild wild west… lawless and BRUTAL 😵! So our orphaned FMC grows up “privileged” 💄💎👗 and does some pretty reckless Robin Hood 🥷 type stuff (near Fae borders) to keep her otherwise entertained 😳. Everything is all fun & games (if you read the book, no pun intended 😅!) close to the border until… well, it’s NOT 😵! (I literally can’t say ANYTHING ELSE about the plotline and I HIGHLY recommend you just dive in & don’t even read the description on Amazon… just be SURPRISED 😲, it’s that AMAZEBALLS 🤩🤩🤩!)
Ok, so since I’m going to be super SECRETIVE 🤐 about this plotline, I’m going to do my BEST 🏆 to give you the AMAZING 🤩 elements this book has and why it’s FANTASTIC 🙌🏻!
First off, what genre of book is it? It’s definitely FANTASY with Fae/humans and there’s definitely enemies-to-lovers, slow burn 🔥 romance 💘. I wouldn’t liken it to a steamy Paranormal Romance (PRN,) but I would class it as a High Fantasy with Romance. This author has a PRN background and she definitely knows how to bring the HEAT 🔥 (psssst… word on the street is future books get HOT 🥵!) It’s listed as Urban Fantasy & PRN… and I could sort of see it as UF, but not traditional UF. If I HAD to sort of liken it to something (I know I said I couldn’t and I really can’t 😩, but I’m trying to give you an idea 💡 here!!!)… I’d say it’s like Hunger Games meets Divergent meets TOG meets Gladiator 😳😲. But like… some SERIOUS 👆🏻enemies-to-lovers heat too! This IS NOT rainbows 🌈 and flowers 🌺 . It causes TONS of EMOTIONS! Anger 😡, Anticipation 😬, Excitement 🤩, Agony 😩, Edge of your Seat Hooting 👊🏻 & Hollering 🙌🏻, and some WOWZA 😲 that’s HOT 🔥🔥🔥! (Oh my gosh as I’m typing this an Eastern Band just came on the radio 📻 that I haven’t heard in YEARS! … what are the chances?!! It’s FATE 😇 for me to write this, RIGHT now! I am SO PUMPED 👏🏻🙌🏻👊🏻!)
I FREAKING LOVE 💗 the FMC! She’s so BADA$S 🤺 and just INCREDIBLE. Snarky 😏, Strong 💪🏻, Brave 💗, Courageous 🛡, Noble 👸… just AMAZING 🤩 . She is STUPID like twice 😅, but I can TOTALLY forgive it because she is only human (or IS she 🤔 … I still don’t know 😆!) She has emotions and has a couple naïve moments 🤷🏻♀️. But again, totally OK with me because I LOVE HER 💗💗💗. And the MMC …. Mannnnnnnnnn….. this author made him SOOOOO HOTTTTTT🔥🔥🔥 …. SOOOOOOOOO HOTTTTTTTTT 🔥🔥🔥🔥.. Like…. I AM NUTS over this guy 👏🏻!! Just like I am NUTS over this book! Full circle 🙌🏻. Nuts 👏🏻 Nuts 👏🏻 Nuts 👏🏻. I was so TORN because I wanted to dive into Book 2 IMMEDIATELY after finishing Book 1, but at the same time I wanted to write this & get it out there 👊🏻!
I CANNOT BELIEVE it took me THIS LONG to read this book 🤦🏻♀️. WHAT WAS I THINKING 😩😂?! I have seen over and over people saying it’s amazing, but I read a lot of books 😅. I see that A LOT. So I thought… ok, ok… I’ll give it a try…sometime 😉. Mannnn I’m KICKING myself now 🤦🏻♀️. And TO THINK there are 4 more books!! FOUR 😲 🙌🏻!! Oh boy oh boy!!! I’m diving in AS SOON as I post this all over FB and on Goodreads/Amazon!! I WISH I could give it 10 stars. I totally would 🙌🏻 (Okie, here you go 😅 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)
Oh and SHOUT OUT 🙌🏻 to the ending! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Just when I thought the book couldn’t get better… BAM 💥 ! LIKE WOW 🤩 . I just. 🤩. Seriously you guys, I swear this lady took a GENIUS 🧠 pill and sat down & literally Mozart poured out of her fingertips! Ok, fine 🙄. TWIST MY ARM why don’t you!!! I’ll give you a non-spoiler excerpt to show you how amazing this writing is!!! …
‘Silent sobs sucked out the air in my lungs. Grabbing for the wall, my spine curved as heartache ripped and clawed at my chest. Trapped behind my ribs, it couldn’t burst through and relieve me of the agony.’
Like…amazing. And I’m not a fancy, writing kind of gal! I like straight to the point, modern 1st person POV. But I was seriously in awe of this author. IN AWE 😲😲😲
Ok so not a normal review from me! I normally write gushing, positive emoji reviews, yes… but this one… I totally went off my formula and just let the passion fly out of my heart ❤️ , electrify my arms, and tumble out of my fingers (see, I can’t write like she does… she is GENIUS.)
So like… I’m not going to do my ending spiel that summarizes the book & leaves with a catchy phrase to really sell it!
Just get the book.
