I just finished reading ‘Hot Vampire Next Door: Season One (Midnight Harbor Book 1),’ by Nikki St. Crowe and you guys… IT WAS HOT 🔥🔥🔥! There are NO spoilers and I’m not affiliated with the author!
So this is the first book/season of the first 18 episodes in a Kindle Vella serial with an open-ended number of episodes 😲! Only the first book/season is available at the time of this review on KU and the second book/season of episodes 19-36 (which I AM SUPER EXCITED 🤩 FOR!!!) is going to be available in February👏🏻! Episodes are released weekly via Kindle Vella and then once the author feels like a grouping of episodes would make a book (or season,) she makes them available on KU! Due to this format, the books are short… about 130ish pages… which I ABSOLUTELY LOVED ❤️ because it was such a nice breath of fresh air 🌬 for me to page turn straight through on a sunny ☀️ afternoon on my porch! 🙌🏻
OK! So the story starts off with a FMC who is just days away from her PLEDGING ✊🏻! In a world where humans need protection from sups, they pledge themselves as bloodbags 🩸to a Vampire family when they come of age! But things aren’t as simple as they seem (when are they really?! 😅) and she is immediately thrown into sort of a pis$ing contest of who wants 💋😉 our girl the most & why 😁! Enter her HOT 🥵 next door neighbor, who happens to be the biggest of vampire baddies 👊🏻, and this story gets steamy 🔥 & FAST 🏃🏻♀️!
First off!!! Guys I just LOVED this book 👏🏻! I LOVED 😍 the writing in this book! Super straightforward, funny 😆, smart 💡, and easy to page-turn 📖! It’s right up my alley with my preferred writing style! It’s just sooo smartly written with dialogue that is refreshingly realistic and like, what I think the character should say 🙌🏻… but not in a predictable way 👏🏻. I chuckled 🤭 a lot with the dialogue because it was like… damn straight, y’all 😎! I just literally FLEW through this book and eagerly went to get the second one (to only find out it’s not ready yet 😩!) But ✋🏻! I’m not one to hold that against this book or author! Because this book was pretty FANTASTIC 🤩! So much so, I had to write this as soon as I finished it to let y’all know! 🥳🥳🥳
So I really think the FMC is GREAT 🤩! She’s quirky, funny, independent, and shameless 😲💋😁👏🏻! There were several times I had a chuckle with her dialogue and inner monologue 😅. She’s refreshingly in tune with what she wants and we skip right past some of that typical FMC inner turmoil of debating “should I 😍” or “shouldn’t I 😩?!” Our girl is like… YEP, my neighbor is a HOTTIE 🔥 and YEP, I’m STARING 👀 at him in his birthday suit through my window 🪟, and YEP I SHOULDN’T be…but like… can you blame me 🥵😂?!? And OMG 😱 the MMC is SMOKING 🔥🥵🔥. He has comebacks for DAYS 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻. He’s super HOT 🥵 🍆🥵 and super badass 🤺 and super snarky 😏 and like… smart 🤓. I FREAKIN loved ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥 him!! He’s definitely one to burn 🔥 down the world down for our girl and I AM HERE FOR IT 🙋🏻♀️👏🏻! There was one scene where I was like .. Oh Boy 👏🏻 Oh Boy 👏🏻… hold my beer 🍺 … this is gonna get good 😁😁😂😂! Honestly, this is right up my alley with how I love my MMC’s to be! He was pretty perfect 👌🏻 in my book. And the STEAM 🔥! This is HOT ❤️🔥🍆🥵 🌶 🍑❤️🔥. It is NOT YA… DIRTY words are definitely spoken and our boy likes a bit of CONTROL ⛓ in his playtime! OMG the chair 🪑 … ya’ll will know when you get there…WOWZA 🔥🔥🔥
Ok so what about the plot!? It’s actually really GREAT 🥳. It has a bit of adventure and movement, especially for such a short book!! I was super excited about what character we were going to meet next! I love ❤️ love ❤️ love ❤️ when a book throws in multiple alphas and there’s that HINT of them all wanting 😍 our girl! And this book definitely has that vibe! And I DO NOT think it is a RH, FYI! And there is MYSTERY🔎! There were some clues and I had an idea where it was going… so the end wasn’t a major surprise to me… but honestly, that’s because I read A LOT of books in the Fantasy 🧚♀️ genres, so I can pick up on little hints pretty easily ☺️. I think someone NEW to this genre will be really, really blown away 🤯 by the ending! That being said, I still was really into it and I still don’t have all the answers 🥳! The ending is a small cliffhanger, but it’s not bad at all! But I do REALLY want Book 2 … like NOW 😂! And since these are so short, I’ll drop whatever I’m reading when Book 2 comes out and I’ll pick it up! Heck, with this story, I’d probably do that anyway even if it was a full length book! 😆
So if you love a FMC that is shameless 😵💋, a MMC that is a SMOKIN hot 🥵 , snarky 😏, smart mouth 👄bad-boy, some freaking HOT 🔥 STEAM that doesn’t hold back, some alpha pi$sing contests 😆, a SHORT book that you can page turn over a chillaxed 🌴 afternoon, and some cool MYSTERY 🔎 in the plotline … give this a shot! It’s free on KU and you never know, it may just be the next HOT 🔥 read for you!
