I read ‘Midlife Bounty Hunter,’ Book 1 of The Forty Proof Series, by Shannon Mayer… and how in the heck did it take me so long to read this 😲?! It’s absolutely FANTASTIC 🤩! (FYI, this is an unbiased, genuine recommendation of a book I loved and there are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻)
OKAY! So FIRST 👆🏻, gotta say… this is a Paranormal Women’s Fiction Novel and it is listed on Amazon as Paranormal Fantasy – which I can totally understand why because it takes place in this modern world 📱🌎… but to me, it REALLY feels like a classic UF 🤺! That’s right 🙌🏻! If you LOVE Kate Daniels, Jane Yellowrock or even The Hollows (Rachel Morgan)… this is DEFINITELY your jam 👏🏻!
So what’s it about 🤔?! Well! We have a divorced 💔 FMC who has an ex-husband who is… WAIT 🤚🏻, what’s WORSE than a douche canoe 🛶 ? I don’t know 😆… so I’ll just call him “WORSE THAN A DOUCE CANOE” 😅. Okay so this “worse than a douche canoe guy” who is not only her EX (who yes, inhabits all of the typical jerk type stuff) … has ALSO managed to… get this… shift ALL of HIS DEBT 💰 to HER… AND (are you ready for this? )… STEAL HER INHERITANCE GIVEN TO HER BY HER GRANDMOTHER!!!! 😡 I mean COME ON, that’s pretty bad folks! So now, our girl is JUST trying to make a buck to hopefully, get back her inheritance 🏠 , and in doing so… she tries to be hired as, you guessed it, a paranormal BOUNTY HUNTER 🤺! Except ✋🏻! She’s the ONLY person of her fabulous age trying out for the team! Everyone else is young & well, fit as a flee 😆. Enter ➡️ a HOT 🥵 roommate, werewolf, and well… some dude that reminds me of moody & bad boy 🔥 Eric Northman (who is somehow in a towel a lot a lot 👀🥵😅)… and you got yourself ONE HECK of a bounty of potential MMCs! (Annnnnd I gotta say, I have NO IDEA after reading this book WHO the MMC is… so can we say SLOW-BURN 👏🏻 ?!)
Now – I gotta say…errr my opening for this EMOJI praise may have been a teeny 🤏🏻 weenie bit misleading 😬. I MAY have an idea why it took me SO LONG to start this book 🙈. Annnd… whelp, err it’s because I have something in common with the FMC! I um, well… let’s just say I was a kid in the 80’s (annnnnd I totally jive with Stranger Things because of it.. boo-yeah!). Okie, I digress… but basically, the point is I that think I may have sort of put off trying it because in this rare 🧐 case, I didn’t WANT to relate to a FMC that is in her 40’s, ykwim? I mean… I read books to ESCAPE 🏃🏻♀️ from real life, right? So I think like- SUBCONSCIOUSLY 🧠 – I was a little 🤏🏻 worried that the book would um, make me feel old 😅.
BUT I HAVE TO SAY THAT I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG !!!
No matter if you are no longer in your 20’s or heck, are IN your 20’s… this book is DEFINTIELY for you 🙌🏻. Not only is the FMC smart 💡, courageous 🛡️, and FUNNY 😂…. she is RELATABLE in a way that we can all understand… feeling different 🙃. I think everyone, no matter their age, has felt different at some point in their life ❤️🩹. So this FMC is relatable- in a fantastic way- to EVERYONE. She is refreshingly realistic and makes you love ❤️ her from the get-go as you cheer 👏🏻 her on when she flips everyone’s expectations on their head! 🙌🏻
So if you LOVE ❤️ a badass 🤺, funny 😆 FMC that is fabulously DIFFERENT from everyone else (but she sure shows them 💪🏻 + 🧠!), a WHOLE bunch of cool characters/creatures 🐠 that will remind you of a classic UF (watchout for the SPIDER🕷️ !,) and a super-slow burn 🔥 where you are just guessing 🤔 at which HOT 🥵 guy will be her man… give this a shot! It’s free on KU and you never know, it may be one hell of a book BOUNTY for you too!
