I read ‘Storm the Gates,’ Book 1 of A Knight’s Revenge series by Elizabeth Dear… and it FREAKING FANTASTIC 🤩! (FYI, this is an unbiased, genuine recommendation of a book I loved and there are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻)
You guyyyyssss 👏🏻… this book is 100% my CUPPA TEA! I was in a book slump 😩 and it was JUST what the doctor ordered 🙌🏻! This book is so incredibly PAGE-TURNING! Can I just say 🤚🏻, that after I started rec’ing it (after my FABULOUS 💋 reading team for the FanGrrrl Romance Recs book event rec’d it to me)… EVERY PERSON I KNOW who read 🤓 it… told me they finished it in ONE 👆🏻 single sitting 😲! Like… these people NOT ONLY finished the first book without stopping 🛑 … they LITERALLY (no pun intended 🤪!) went on to read the ENTIRE COMPLETED series of THREE books, OVERNIGHT🌙 😲 🤯. I CANNOT tell you how many sleepy 🥱 book besties I talked to about this book the day after they read it 😆!

Well, FIRST 👆🏻! You gotta know… this is a Contemporary Romance Academy Why Choose 🙆♀️➕🙆♂️🙆♂️🙆♂️… that is Bully ADJACENT, NOT a Bully Romance 🥷💘!
And you ask… “Rebecca! What does THAT mean?!”
I mean, I know what you’re thinking 🤔 .
You 🫵🏻 are thinking: adjacent is two shapes or lines that are directly next to each other, sharing a common vertex (meeting point) and a common side that do not overlap.
Amirite?! 😅
Well geez 😆…! If you ACTUALLY thought 💡 THAT, I hate to tell ya- there is very LITTLE schooling 🍎 in this story, even though it takes place in an Academy 🏫! You certainly are not going to learn no GEOMETRY 📐 from it! 😂
LMAO, I crack myself up 😅. Ok in all seriousness 😑– throwing geometry 📐 out the window (gasp 😱!) – REALLY what that means is that the MAIN MMCs – yes there is more than one 😁– thank you 🙏🏻 , thank you 🙏🏻 Elizabeth! They are so yummy 😍🤤🥵. Ok well, the MMCs do NOT 🚫 bully our girl. Nope! Leave it to the Queen Bees (errr… technically Bees 🐝 only have one Queen, but ya know what I mean 😆.) Leave it to the Mean Girls 👧 👧 👧 to do the bullying 🤜🏻 ! Hence… ADJACENT 📐! (goodness gracious, did I REALLY just babble on & on about adjacent?!). Why yes, yes I did 😅 (too bad this doesn’t get KU page reads, huh? 🤣!)
Moving on, people 👏🏻! So this story has a major REVENGE 😏 plotline and it’s chef’s kiss 🤌🏻💋! Incredible 👏🏻! Fantabulous 🥳! The FMC is so freaking STRONG 💪🏻 and this girl is done WRONG 😡. DO NOT FEAR though… she is SMART 🧠 and has a PLAN 📋✅. And boy, do we page-turn and page-turn and page-turn to see it unfold 🤩. SO 👏🏻. FREAKING👏🏻. GOOD 👏🏻. And honestly, I was a little hesitant 😳 at first. Don’t get me wrong 🤚🏻, I LOVE a GREAT revenge plotline! But I was worried that it would go into like reverse-bullying (oh my GOSH… DO NOT GET ME STARTED HERE ON ANOTHER DEFINITION OF BULLYING 😅!). I’ll do us BOTH a favor & cut to the chase here! Reverse-bullying… well, basically I was worried the plotline would drag on with the FMC bullying the MMCs!
IT. DOES. NOT. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Honestly- this is one of those few times, ima gonna shut myself up 🤐 on a review and just say…
GO READ THE BOOK.
