I read “The Princess in a ‘Prince’ Disguise,” Book 1 of the Beasts of Wrath and Madness series by Kiss Leilani and it is FLIPPING FANTASTIC 🤯! (FYI, this is an unbiased, genuine recommendation of a book I loved and there are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻)
You guyyyysss 👏🏻… I am OBSESSED 🤩 with this story! So much so, that I actually kept on reading through the second book before even writing this review 🙌🏻! I couldn’t help myself 😆! I couldn’t pause long enough to put it down 😲!!
Ok, so first 👆🏻! This is a DARK ROMANTASY so it has TRIGGER WARNINGS ⚠️– and make sure you read them, especially if Non Con in books is a no-no for you! THAT SAID – OMG 😱, I just couldn’t put this down. I love ❤️ it so much! I am such a SUCKER for the Secret 🤫 Girl trope, as well as a sort of BRUTAL 😩 world for humans who are slaves to a non-human race (who shift into Beasts!) The injustice of it all 😫🤬- and page-turning like CRAZY to see what happens next – had me hooked from the start 👏🏻!
So this story kicks 🦵 off with a human PRINCESS 👸 that grew up disguised as a PRINCE 🫅 because well, the human world isn’t much better than the land of the Urai 😲! Females are RARE, and instead of the human nobility cherishing them, well – they sort of lend them out to their male friends for male entertainment 🍆 🍑 ⛓️💥 😳. The parents of the two princesses 👸 saw the injustice of it all (thank goodness SOMEONE has morals!), and decided to PROTECT 🛡️ their youngest daughter by disguising her as a male… since birth 😮! Enter 👉🏻 two Grand Urai Lords looking to purchase the eldest princess as a sex 🍆🍑 ⛓️💥 slave for the Grand King 👑 (who has gone FERAL 🦖 and is in his beast form 😱!) … and the princess and ‘prince in disguise 🥸 ’ are soon whisked 🧹 away to the land of the Urai, where their bodies are not their own 😭 and … and a very FERAL 🦖 King- who kills every slave he has been given, since he is in his ginormous beast form (for the past 500 years 😳😳😳!)– suddenly is keenly interested and PROTECTIVE 🤺 of the beautiful 😍 boy prince 🫅 !
Gah this is so freaking good 👏🏻! I just can’t say enough about it! Ok, so a few more things… this is in THIRD 3️⃣ person POV, which if I’m being honest, I don’t typically enjoy nearly as much as first person POV! But I DID NOT CARE with this one! Not one bit! It actually took me a hot minute to even realize it was in third person POV 😲… which is incredibly rare for me! This also has strong 💪🏻 Omegaverse vibes… there are heats 🥵 and knotting 🪢 . But it is NOT an Omegaverse! And it’s loaded with steam 🌶️ ! Lots of steam between the first two books in the series 🥵🥵! And guess what? Book 3 is out next week, and Book 4 is out next month! Not too long of a wait 🙌🏻!
So if you LOVE ❤️ a DARK world where the injustice is so wrong 😫 but yet, you can’t stop page-turning 😅, you LOVE ❤️ a SECRET GIRL 🤫 trope (where girl is dressed as a boy 🥸), and you LOVE ❤️ a REALLY unique story that just pulls you in and makes you SCREAM 😫 for the next book… give this a shot! It’s free on KU and you never know, this may be a BEAST of a hidden gem for you too!
