I read ‘A Forest of Stars’ by Linsey Hall, Book 1 in the Court of Starlight and Darkness series and it was such a great YA read 👏🏻! (FYI, I’m not affiliated with the author and there are NO spoilers! 🙌🏻)
Ok ✅! So this book starts off with a FUNNY 😆 & SPUNKY 😜 25 year old FMC who JUST wants to get into a BAR 🍷 to get some 411 📝 on her BIRTH 👶🏼 parents (she is an ORPHAN 😫!) And what do you know 🧐?! Once she gets in… she’s SURROUNDED by people with POINTY ears👂and before she knows it, she’s swept 🧹 away (LITERALLY thrown over the shoulder folks 🥵!) by the Fae King 👑 to be kidnapped 😲 into the Fae 🧚♂️ realm where she has to COMPETE to be his QUEEN 👸!
Ok ok ok… so this plotline has been DONE ☑️ . Not gonna lie 🤥, I’ve read several iterations of this type of plotline 😬! And because of that, I actually skipped this book several times when I saw it on Amazon Bestsellers 🫣! But as time went on, I kept seeing more and more ratings… all close to 5 STARS 😮… and that combined with the author being GENEROUS 💝 enough to do a contest/giveway in this group previously … it FINALLY got me to open the LOOK INSIDE on Amazon & give it a shot 👏🏻👏🏻! And let me tell you…. I one-clicked that so FAST 🏃🏻♀️ after I read 👀 the LOOK INSIDE 🥳🥳🥳!
So I INHALED 😵 this book in 24 hours! I really, enjoyed it 🙌🏻! As a matter of fact, I msg’d my book besties Maria Tracy about how much I was digging it 😎 & then I went out to lunch 🥗. When I came back, Maria had already finished Book 1 😲!! AND THEN! .. a few hours later, I got a msg that she finished Book 2 😲😲!
Let me tell you what I LOVE ❤️ about this book! It is a FUN 🤩, GREAT 👍🏻 page-turning YA read! The FMC is SPUNKY and sticks to her G~NS! I LOVE ❤️❤️ that she doesn’t want to be in the trials and she stays TRUE ✌🏻 to herself throughout the entire book! I also REALLY LOVE ❤️❤️❤️ the GREAT 💞 friendship that is formed throughout the book. It’s SO nice to see SOLID female 👯♀️ relationships that you TRUST are LEGIT & aren’t going to turn into some type of back stabbing 🔪!
What about the MMC you ask? Mannnnn … Lore is pretty great 😍! I really like this guy (even though he’s a bit stubborn 😑 at times and I want to give him a swift KICK🦵in the rear to get with the program already 😠!) But still! I do really like him and I’m INVESTED in where he & the FMC will go in the next book 🙌🏻!
So if you like a pretty GREAT 🤩 FMC that is STRONG 💪🏻 and SPUNKY 😜, a plotline that YES ✅ has been done… but this is done SO RIGHT, a FUN 🥳 read with action 🤺 & that you just want to page-turn 📖, and a MMC that is HOT 🥵 and understandable (albeit a weeeee bit stubborn 😅,) … give this series a shot! It’s FREE on KU and you never know, it just may be a STAR ⭐️ of a book that will SHINE ✨for you!
